Reducing Social Isolation Partnership with No Wrong Door System

Initiative Description

Easterseals Iowa Assistive Technology Program, through Cares Act Funds, in coordination with the Iowas No Wrong Door system (The Aging and Disability Resource Center, The Iowa Department of Aging, and Iowa's University Center on Excellence, The University of Iowa Center for Disability and Development) provided assistive technology packages along with needed support services and training to address the needs of Iowan's experiencing social isolation.  

Lessons Learned/Replication

This No Wrong Door collaboration served over 55 persons, who received assistive technology packages (tablet type technology with associated software as needed to connect virtually to people, goods and services to reduce their experiences of isolation. As a program, more time was spent than expected in the assessment/evaluation phase of identifying the appropriate assistive technology. Additionally, there has been a hand full of circumstances that despite all efforts, virtual training was not effective
